Nude shimmer prom look
Prom season is coming up and we think there's nothing better than getting your girls together and doing some makeup trials together at home, you can get creative and find out what suits you - as well as what matches with your dress. In today's post, we're showing you how to get this subtle-yet-striking nude look; it's super flattering and will really make the eyes pop, plus it'll match with any hair style you opt for.
Lets start by priming to smooth out the base for our makeup and create an even canvas, as well as helping our makeup to stay in place all night. We're using the Dr Botanicals Superfood oil primer here.
Next, we're going to sculpt the face for that defined look. Taking our City Colors contour palette we are using the contour cream with our Bella&Bear Margay Cat brush to give definition to our cheeks, our jawline and down the sides of our nose as well as on the temples.
We are then going to balance that out with some highlight cream (you could alternatively use concealer) and our Bella&Bear Ocelot Concealer brush, working the product onto the hollows of the cheeks, under the eyes, on the chin, the forehead and down the centre of the nose.
We blend this all into the skin using our Bella&Bear Lynx kabuki brush for a smooth finish.
Now, were going to apply a high coverage foundation for a truly flawless looking skin. We're mixing a some Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation with a little W7 Beam Me Up Illuminator in 'Dynamite' for a subtle glow and we are working it onto the skin using our Bella&Bear Jaguar angled kabuki, working in circular and outward motions for a streak free finish and working down the neck slightly to avoid tide lines around the jaw area.
Let's also go in with some concealer to disguise any blemishes. We're using the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer and we are blending it into our foundation using our Bella&Bear Ocelot concealer brush for a seamless blend.
Although we want a dewy look to the skin, it is still important to set that concealer to prevent it from sliding and creasing. So, taking our Bella&Bear Leopard Face brush, we are pressing some Essence All About Matte translucent powder onto the concealed areas.
We then spritz the face with some Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray to lock that base in place.
Let's work on making some dazzling eyes. To start, of course, we are going in with a primer, working it all over the lid and right up to the brow bone. This will keep our shadows from fading or creasing and will make the colours more intense. We love the Kryolan Shadow primer.
Next, we're using a matte ivory shadow, and we're working it over the lid and up to the brow bone using our Bella&Bear Sand Cat brush. We love the Zoeva Naturally Yours Palette for this look.
Then, using our Bella&Bear jaguarundy brush, we are applying a brown shimmer shadow to the outer corner of the eye and slightly along the crease for some subtle definition.
To keep in with that super glowy look we are then taking a sparkling champagne shadow and we are working it onto the lid using our Bella&Bear Golden Cat brush. You can spritz the brush with some setting spray before dipping into youtr shadow for a more intense pay off.
For a slight hit of colour and to smoke the look out lightly, we're using our Bella&Bear Leopard eye brush to work a matte aubergine shadow onto the very outer corner of the eye and along the lower lash line.
To keep the look soft, we are also going to go in with a transition shade. Were blending those colours out - along the crease and the lower lash line - with a matte taupe shade using our Bella&Bear Bornean Bay Cat brush.
Lets line and define the eyes now. Taking our Bella&Bear Serval angled liner brush and some Essence cushion liner we are drawing a long wing along the upper lash line, you can keep this as thick or thin as you like.
Working on the lashes now, we're first curling them with our famous Bella&Bear Eye&Mighty Lash curler for serious lift, and we're then setting that curl with a coat of our fave mascara - Benefit They're Real.
As, this is a special occasion we're also going to go in with some falsies. We're using our Bella&Bear Angled tweezers to place some Ardell Demi Wispies lashes as close to the natural lash line as possible, allowing time to dry.
Let's finish off the eyes by framing them with some defined brows. Using the spoolie end of our Bella&Bear Iberian Lynx Brow Brush we are brushing through the hairs to tame and shape them. We're then using the brush end to work some Revolution brow pomade through the hairs, enhancing the shape and filling in any sparse areas.
Now, its time to move back to the skin. We're using our new Bella&Bear Bobcat brush to dust some Benefit Hoola bronzer onto the cheekbones, the temples, the hairline and the jawline for a healthy glow.
We want a glow to envy the gods, so next, we're using our Bella&Bear Cheetah Duo Fiber Powder brush to generously work some TooFaced Diamond highlight over the high points of the cheeks, the brow bones, the centre of the nose, and the cupids bow. We also pressed some onto the inner corner of the eyes. We also dusted some onto the collar bones and the shoulders.
Thinking about the lips. We want a long lasting colour which can survive through all those pouty pics and bubbly drinks, so we're starting work by lining the lips with some Essence Lip liner in 'soft berry'.
We're then using our Bella&Bear Rusty Spotted Cat lip brush to apply some LimeCrime Velvetine in 'Buffy' over the lips. Our brush gives a flawless and even application every time.
To finish the look we are spritzing the face with a setting spray to lock everything tightly in place. We love the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray best!
We wanted to keep our hair sleek and sophisticated for this look so we brushed it through with our Bella&Bear The Bear Paddle Brush to remove any knots and tangles and we then straightened it to keep it glossy and smooth all night long!
