Subtle Shimmer Summer Look
Summer is in full swing and we are enjoying attending parties, visiting the beach and sipping some awesome cocktails! Today's look is all about that subtle shimmer, its fun, vibrant and cute - and is perfect for your summer events!
Lets start by creating a flawless skin. We're going in with some KIKO Hydra Pro Glow for a radiant base, buffing it over the face and neck with our hands.
Then we are going to use a full coverage foundation to even out the skin and make it look smooth and youthful. We're using the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation and we're applying it with our Bella&Bear Jaguar Angled Kabuki, buffing in circles and outward motions for a streak free finish.
To disguise our blemishes and dark circles we are going in with a concealer. We have dotted this under our eyes, on our chin and down the centre of our nose and we are blending it into our foundation with our Bella&Bear Ocelot Large Concealer Brush. Concealer of choice; Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer.
Let's set that base in place with a powder. We're using our Bella&Bear Leopard brush and some Essence All About matte Powder and dusting it all over the face for a matte finish - we want our sparkle to be the focus in this look!
Moving on to the eyes! After applying some Benefit Stay Don't Stray primer to the lids and lower lash line we went in with a matte cocoa shadow, working it right over the lid with our Bella&Bear Jaguarundy brush. We used shade 'Fawn' from the Makeup Revolution Flawless Matte Palette for this. You can then also go in with your Bella&Bear Bornean Bay Cat brush to work the shadow into the crease of the lid for a more defined effect.
To follow we took our Bella &Bear Marbled Cat Short Shader brush and a teal shadow (we used the BH Cosmetics Take Me Back to Brazil palette) and we brushed it just below the lower lash line to the inner corner of the eye.
To top this and add some sparkle we went in with a blue shimmer shadow! We used our Bella&Bear Fishing Cat brush to press shade 'Comet' from the BH Cosmetics Galaxy Chic palette over the top of the teal shadow, topping up until you're happy with that shine!
Now lets add some definition! Using our Bella&Bear Serval angled liner brush we created a dramatic, extended wing along the top lash line. You can keep this as thick or as thin as you prefer, just make sure to join it up to the blue shadow on your lower lash line!
After applying a coat of mascara to the top and bottom lashes - we used Benefit They're Real - we went in with some falsies! We used our Bella&Bear angled tweezers to place some Ardell Demi Wispie lashes as close to the natural lash line as possible, giving the glue time to dry after they're applied.
Now, lets frame those eyes to really set the look off! We used the spoolie end of our Bella&Bear Iberian Lynx Brow Brush to shape the brows how we wanted to, brushing the hairs into place.
We then used the brush end to fill in and define the brows. We applied some Freedom Makeup brow Pomade, defining the shape of the brows and extending the tail for a natural finish.
Let's add a little colour back into the skin. We don't want to look flat, so we are applying some bronzer to the hollows of the cheeks, the temples, and the jawline (see our full bronzer guide here), using our new Bella&Bear Bobcat Angled Blush Brush. We love using Benefits Hoola bronzer for this as it has a matte finish which means you can add your own fave highlight afterwards!
Speaking of highlight, lets go for the glow! We're using our Bella&Bear Cheetah Duo Fibre Powder Brush to apply some IHeartMakeup Unicorn Heart highlight to the high points of the face for super radiance; think the cheekbones, the tip of the nose, the brow bones and the cupids bow!
Finally, let's fill in that lip! To keep the focus on the eyes we want to keep a neutral lip, so we have filled them in with MACs Velvet Teddy matte lipstick. You can use your Bella&Bear Rusty Spotted Cat Lip Brush for this, for a precise and even application.
If you want a little extra sparkle, then do as we did and add glitter! We applied some eyelash glue to the sides of the neck and the collarbones and added some silver glitter - you could use any colour you prefer!
Be sure to use a setting spray too, to keep everything in place! We are loving the Makeup Revolution Oil Control Fixing Spray - its got a lovely scent and is perfect for a hot day!
Now, lets round off the look with some textured hair! We used our Bella&Bear Bear Paddle Brush to remove any tangles from the hair and to give a deep side part.
We then added a couple of braids to the side of the head and pulled everything up into a high ponytail - backcombing it a little for extra volume!
This is such a fun look which is versatile too - you could switch up the blue for any colour you prefer! It gives a great pop to the eye and will really make you stand out!
